About Valley Homestead

Valley Homestead is surrounded by 13 hectares of bush and the rich agricultural diversity of the Ovens Valley. Valley Homestead has been locally-operated in the alpine region for more than 30 years and has welcomed over 100,000 guests, including over 3% of Melbourne’s population!

Our Property

In the foreground rises the rugged north face of Mount Buffalo National Park. The front two hectares of the property where the main building and accommodation are located offer a delightful combination of lawns and gardens plus solar-heated swimming pool, and tennis courts.

The remaining hectares comprise plenty of natural bush as well as our Personal Challenge and Team Building Activity Centre, all of which provide a host of wonderful surprises.

Group Accommodation

Whilst school adventure camps are our primary focus, we also welcome groups who wish to explore our region or who wish to cycle the excellent Murray to Mountains Rail Trail which passes directly by our front gate.

However regardless of your group size, the food is always bountiful, the bedrooms come with ensuites, and our staff are always helpful and friendly.

The Homestead

The complex is divided into several areas:

  • The main building with its reception and office area also encompasses the dining room, entertainment lounge, kitchen and TV areas.
  • The accommodation, situated on an upper level, is connected to the main building by covered steps and walkway.

And There Is More!

Finally, within the grounds just 250 metres away and surrounded by magnificent natural bush is our Bush Centre.

Here you will find a large, undercover campfire area, an open kitchen with BBQ and the Bush Conference room. This area won the prestigious Best Small Commercial Project in the HIA architectural awards. No electricity is available at the Bush Centre, however lighting can be provided by our quiet generator.

Surrounding the Bush Centre we have ropes and initiative courses, reflector and an abseiling and climbing tower.

For relaxation and fun, there are manicured lawns, red gum picnic tables, tennis courts, solar heated swimming pool, bicycle hire (including helmet), undercover camp fire area and Ga Ga Pit.
